The Maryland Lady Shooting Stars 15U rebounded this weekend winning the Charm City Under Armour Tournament. The sensational “sophs” showed resiliency after losing its first game by two points to the D.C. Love (Holy Cross AAU). After that lost, some were dubious about the team’s ability to compete against other teams in the tournament. Taking on their coach’s persona of cool, calm, and collected, the Stars demolished the Lady Vogues in their next match. However, in their subsequent game against the Magic, the Stars were less impressive, again, causing some to be less optimistic especially entering the semi-finals against the talented and vengeful D.C. Heat.
The “sophs” de-flamed the Heat and prepared themselves for a championship battle with the surprising Alana Beard Future. In what was a much anticipated contest, the sensational “sophs” demonstrated why they are on the verge of eliteness. Their exceptional defense and precise offensive execution landed them a 20-point win against a very talented Future team. After the win, Coach “J” commented “They grew up…they wanted it more than anybody else!” This weekend was a clear example of how good this team can be. A job well-done is extended to Coach “J” and his super “sophs.”
